For those who want to dine out or order takeout this holiday season, a few restaurants across the Valley Isle are offering Christmas meals.

• Hula Grill Kaanapali is offering holiday cooking and takeout options, with pre-orders available until the end of today. Individual or family-style takeout meals can be picked up from 2 to 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Christmas Day.

The holiday menu includes kiawe-roasted ham, green bean casserole and candied Molokai sweet potatoes, as well as a family-style honey-baked ham and kiawe chicken dinner with fixings. There’s also a hula pie that serves between eight to 16 people.

• Mala Ocean Tavern’s executive chef Alvin Savella will be preparing takeaway Christmas dinners, including items like a 5-pound smoked prime rib, roasted garlic mash, hua momona vegetables, truffle horseradish cream, beef jus, Hawaiian sweet bread and Kula strawberry cobbler. Each meal, which serves six people, is around $300.

Orders can be placed online at malaoceantavern.com and must be picked up on Christmas Eve. Customers are asked to arrive at the Lahaina restaurant no later than 30 minutes after the chosen pickup time.

• On Friday night, Down The Hatch in Lahaina will be hosting its 6th Annual Ugly Sweater event from 6 to 8 p.m. followed by Santacon, where customers dress in Santa attire while enjoying a Christmas dinner and drinks, and fake snow. There will be live music from 8 to 10 p.m. by Sting Kong.

• Residents and visitors can stop by Tiki Terrace at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Christmas for a three-course holiday meal. Entrees include a choice between kiawe-roasted whole turkey and pineapple-glazed baked ham, Pulehu steak or seafood catch of the day. A keiki menu is also available. Reservations are recommended by calling 667-0124.

• Moku Roots at Lahaina Gateway will be offering a special Christmas Day vegan menu from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Customers can order takeout or dine in. Priced at $22, or $23 for the gluten-free option, the menu includes kabocha squash filled with homemade stuffing or with holiday herb and “sausage” gluten-free quinoa, rosemary chevre macaroni and cheese, cranberry wild rice, green beans with macadamia nut bearnaise, and broccoli kale raisin salad. For takeout orders or reservations, call Moku Roots at 214-5106. Walk-ins are also welcome.

• In South Maui, 5 Palms Restaurant is offering a traditional Christmas turkey feast from 2 to 9 p.m. on Friday. Reservations are required. The costs are $58.95 per adult, $34.95 for children 12 years old and under, or $42.95 for an a la carte turkey plate.

The first course is a choice of roasted butternut squash soup or Upcountry baby greens, roasted beets, goat cheese and toasted almonds with a pomegranate vinaigrette.

The entree is roasted turkey, sausage and apple stuffing, glazed yams, potato puree, giblet gravy, cranberry and green beans. Dessert is buche de Noel, a traditional Yule log cake. A limited a la carte menu is also available.

• Lineage at The Shops at Wailea will have a holiday menu available from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday with limited seating to accommodate social distancing. Reservations are recommended by calling 879-8800 or by visting OpenTable.com.

The holiday menu includes items like hiramasa sashimi with julienned kohlrabi, kochujang vinaigrette, avocado, crispy wild rice and shiso, wagyu ribeye with chive and ginger soy, or black pepper lobster tail with homestead charcoal sourdough and baby bok choy. A Hashimoto persimmon creme brulee topped with raw sugar, persimmon and a gingersnap cookie will also be available for dessert.

• Dani’s Catering/Takamiya Market in Wailuku is open from 5 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve, but is closed Christmas Day. Catering will be available again from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. Cuisine includes Hawaiian food, fresh local pork and beef, pies, and poke and sashimi platters. Holiday orders should be made early by calling 242-6652.

MEALS FOR THOSE IN NEED

• At St. Theresa Church in Kihei, Hale Kau Kau will be serving a Christmas meal from 12 to 2 p.m. on Christmas Day. Anyone who wants a meal is invited, but shoes, shirts and masks are required, and other safety protocols will be in place.

Program Director Jeff Naumann said last week that they will be passing out gifts for keiki via a drive-thru in the parking lot at 10 am. on Christmas Eve. Santa will be on site, along with volunteer elves.

• Every year, the Maui Food Bank puts together holiday meal boxes for families in need across Maui County. Each box, which includes a traditional feast of turkey and ham and other fixings, can feed a family of four. • The Salvation Army continues to be a resource for to-go meals, emergency assistance and other services at the Kahului Corps on 45 W. • With the support of Maui County, the Maui Food Bank and Hana Arts, Project Hoomana will be hosting a food drive-thru distribution from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday at the Hana Cultural Center. A registration form can be filled out online at http://tinyurl.com/y8weam7r. Boxes will include local ground beef, fresh vegetables, dry cereal and other items for families in need. Keiki will also have the opportunity to collect ornament crafts, candy and stickers. Registration is required for the drive-thru but not for the keiki crafts. For more information, call 248-7569.
