Juvenile arrested for poisoning dogs at Jerome animal shelter, all pets survive

KMVT reports a juvenile has been arrested in Jerome after breaking into an animal shelter and poisoning the dogs.

Jerome Police Captain Anthony Gratzer told KMVT the incident occurred sometime Monday afternoon. The juvenile reportedly called 911 to report himself. He was arrested on the scene after most dogs consumed rat poison.

Due to an animal shelter technician, Sawtooth Veterinary Services and volunteers, all of the dogs survived. The Jerome Animal Shelter is closed for now, and all of the animals are under a treatment plan, according to KMVT.

The juvenile is charged with felony burglary, felony malicious injury to property, felony poisoning animals, felony grand theft and misdemeanor criminal trespass.
